Michigan State University Michigan Transfer Agreement

10 Apr

The Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) is a partnership between Michigan colleges and universities that allows students to pursue basic education at an institution and transfer these credits to other partner institutions that apply to essential requirements. As MTA courses apply to Michigan Tech students who move from their Community College to Michigan Tech with MTA confirmation, MTA credits for general education requirements for a bachelor`s degree are applied as follows: a minimum score of 2.0 is required for each course. Students can benefit from courses taught by more than one higher education institution to meet the MTA, including courses taught at the MTU and transferred to the community school. A list of approved courses at the end of the MTA can be find on your community college website. Transfer students are expected to meet Michigan State University`s Integrative, Mathematics and Animal I requirements, which are similar but not identical to general educational requirements at other universities, either by completing appropriate Michigan State University courses or by transferring courses and credits considered acceptable equivalents for Michigan State University courses. Michigan State University is a member of the Michigan Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (MACRAO) and participates in the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA). A transfer student must be admitted to a receiving institution in order to benefit from this agreement. Students who move to Ferris with the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) have completed a block of 30 hours of lower-level general education. However, this does not exempt students from completing program-specific conditions or general continuing education requirements. Students should speak to their counsellor about classes that meet with the MTA. The Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) was designed to facilitate the portability of basic university courses from Michigan colleges to Michigan universities.

Students who pass the 30 Credit Hour MTA at Michigan Community College can transfer the 30 credits to meet some of the general education needs at the Michigan University of Technology. Below, we describe the MTA courses by the sending institution. These courses were evaluated based on the distribution needs of the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA). Other schools and higher education institutions have different requirements for the transmission of MTA course certificates and different requirements from the courses required for admission. Please check our requirements and deadlines (add a link). Your Community College will provide detailed information, including approved courses, to complete the MTA. We advise you to check our transfer plans and consult with your advisor to meet the MTA requirements and ask your Community College to check your registration to add MTA confirmation to your transcript. Your transcript of the two-year institution must be the name “MTA Satisfied” in order for the agreement to be respected by MSU.

The courses will be evaluated and the credit will be awarded on the basis of our TransferMSU website. The university`s requirements are met by the degree audit system (currently Degree Navigator) on the basis of the aforementioned agreement. In 2012, Michigan`s legislature passed the language in the Community College`s endowments act, which focused on improving the portability of basic education, revising the current agreement of the Michigan Association of Registrars and Admissions Officers (MACRAO) and renaming it the Michigan Transfer Agreement.
